Description
This course provides students with a foundational understanding of essential machine tool operations, including lathes, mills, and drill presses. Students will gain hands-on experience in safe, accurate operation and setup of tools, with a primary focus on safety and best practices. Coursework emphasizes basic welding techniques, specifically Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), as well as an introduction to CNC processes. Students will also engage in milling, lathe work, and lay out/sheet metal projects, focusing on smaller, skill-building tasks that reinforce precise measurement and attention to detail. This program introduces students to the fundamentals of metalworking, preparing them for advanced study or practical application in machine and fabrication shops.
