Description
This course is a study of literature, both classical and contemporary. It builds upon the reading, analysis, critical thinking, listening, speaking, and writing skills taught in English Language Arts 9. Standards-based instruction and assessment will continue to develop students' ability to compare and contrast informational and literary text, and increase their competence with academic research, in order to support a claim or craft a high-level response in different written genres. Academic language and vocabulary is embedded in instruction and formative assessments. Summative assessments are based on the ability to apply this knowledge.
